The correct way to preserve the calligraphy and painting pieces is to lining the calligraphy and painting pieces with a layer of rice paper or leather paper with appropriate thickness, roll up the calligraphy and painting pieces with the paper roll as the axis, pack them with white paper or plastic film and put them in the painting box or bookcase.

2.书画装裱后更应妥善保存，存放的当地要考虑防潮、防蛀、防鼠、防陈腐、防玷污等。可将每件书画装入一个塑料袋或布袋，也可用白纸包好，存放时要平放，切勿竖置，更不要在书画上面放置重物使书画受压。假定有条件，可根据书画标准制作画盒，并在盒内放些樟脑和吸潮剂。

4.悬挂和展现书画时要稳重从事。悬挂书画时要一手持画钗挑住画绳，一手托住书画未翻开的部分，然后逐步放开来将书画挂起，取下画钗。

5.展现手卷、册页更要加倍留心，因手卷、册页的装裱较其他书画的装裱凌乱。手卷在展现时要放置平坦的案头或桌子上，留心案面或桌面不应有水点或脏物。手卷翻开时不宜展得过长，要边展边卷。册页翻开时不用手指翻，可用一个润滑而无毛刺的竹条插进册页夹页之间翻页。册页一般较厚，开端翻页或翻到究竟几页会出现双面薄厚不均，两页之间悬空，此时假定不留心压住幅面中心的悬空处，则易构成折断现象。

6.保管现已破损的古旧书画更要稳重，一时不能修正的不要随意展现，以防止书画再度破损。假定是已破碎的书画则更要防止散片丢掉，防止给将来修正带来困难。无论是新旧书画，只需原裱尚能悬挂，画心尚无破损，一般不要急于揭裱修正，因揭裱一次就会对书画的纸素损害一次。假定原裱书画坠落或画心破损严峻，则应及时进行揭裱修正。
